ooh thanks for this! I've had a couple hip injuries, and I'm convinced they'll never be completely pain-free so I need to try this flow!

Kathleen - I have also heard we hold fear in our pelvis so it all makes sense.

Have fun with your balances!

My yoga teacher once said we hold our anger in our hips so all the hip openers can really make us angry and impatient...but they are a great way of releasing it - and I guess its no coincidence that we feel lighter and freer after a great hip opening practice :-)

I am enjoying my focus on balancing poses this month - especially Ardha Chandrasana - and as you say the pose 'doesn't feel as bad as the fear of it does - I think my main fear is of not doing it perfectly - so I'm learning to let myself do it imperfectly, to wobble, to fall, to be out of alignment..and the more allow myself the imperfection, the closer I get to finding my balance. Oh the joy of paradox!

This is exactly how it feels for me in Janu Sirsasana - honestly I hold so much tension! Realising this was definitely the first step to letting go :)

I have never done yoga before but I am interested in learning how to do it. Could you list some beginning moves and poses? If not, could you recommend some place online that might have them. BTW, thanks for sharing your wonderful recipes. Thanks.

ugh, i SO breathe like a little rabbit while in pigeon... always. i wonder if it's the emotional part, or if it's when I try to let go it HURTS. lol.

perhaps I should see- instead of pushing, simply stepping back and letting go :)
