Apparently there is going to be a General Election in the UK on 6th May. Well right now I’m far more excited about the Masterchef final. Is anyone else watching? It’s a shame there are no women in the final three and an even greater shame that the menus seem to consist entirely of large chunks of dead animal and offal. However, it’s still exciting and makes me miss my many years in the catering industry! Maybe I should go on next year cooking purely vegan food (maybe I’d never get past the application process!). Anyway on to today’s post…..

Easter can be a time of overindulgence can’t it? Too much chocolate? Check. Too much sugar? Check. Too much wine? Well I know a couple of people who have! So now to flush it all out (and to eat that remaining chocolate just a little bit at a time right? Right!)
Firstly, water. Lots and lots of water. Two or three pints (1 to 1.5 litres) a day if you can. Or if you really hate water (and I have to admit I’m not its biggest fan) how about herbal tea? Peppermint is my favourite, how about you?
Secondly, a green monster! Today mine was 200ml soy milk, one banana, one kiwi and a great big handful of spinach. Click on Angela’s website for lots more ideas!
Thirdly here is a little yoga sequence (about 10 minutes) focusing on twists, which are just great for cleansing. With each twist try and imagine your body wringing out all the chocolate and red wine like a sponge and as you release feel lots of lovely fresh energy pouring into the body!
Enjoy!
Begin lying on the back hugging the knees into the chest and listening to the breath.
Twist 1 – Stretch the right leg out along the floor and bend the left knee placing the left foot on the floor by the right knee. The arms are down by the sides, palms down. On an exhale lift up the left hip and let the left knee roll over to the outside of the right leg, coming into a gentle twist. Hold for five breaths and repeat to the other side.
Twist 2 – Bring the knees back in to the chest, flex the feet and stretch the arms alongside the ears (they might not touch the floor but that’s OK). On an exhale bring the knees all the way to the floor on the left hand side, keep stretching those arms up. Hold for five breaths then repeat to the other side.
Twist 3 – Bring the feet to the floor, knees bent, feet mat width apart. This time the arms are out to the sides at shoulder height with the palms facing up (so you are in a “T” shape). Exhale let the knees fall to the left and roll the head to look over the right shoulder, inhale back to centre, exhale let the knees fall to the right and roll the head to look over the left shoulder, inhale back to centre. Repeat 5 times to each side.
Roll onto the right hand side and come up to hands and knees. On an exhale push up to downward dog.

After five breaths release to child’s pose.

Maybe we ought to decide the General Election with a “cook-off” It’d probably tell us loads about the leaders’ personalities and management skills!
)
I shall try that sequence now!
Have a great day!
Huh. Not so much chocolate for me. More ham! I really need a yoga cleanse!
Oh, lovely twists! I adore a good twisting sequence to detox. Your green monster sounds YUMMY too!! Wish I could get spinach here.
ouuuu, I should put spinach in our drinks- we have a magic bullet now (for easter) so we can actually make smoothies
Also- I LOVE peppermint, helps my belly digest food like nothing else (and I have stomach issues
).
Time to get some water!
Mmm! My recipe for my green monster is different! But this sounds yummy!
Great post for cleansing!!
