Tina and Kate are hosting Yoga Pose May, in which a handful of bloggers try out a yoga posture each day and write about it – getting yoga out there people (although some would say it is out there enough…. did you see the f***yoga flips flops over on Roseanne’s blog? Hilarious!)
Anyhoo, today is my turn and my pose is Cat Stretch or Majariasana.
Really, ladies, you couldn’t have given me a more appropriate posture this week. Like child’s pose, this is another beautiful back stretch.
Come into all fours with a flat back. As you exhale, draw the navel in towards the spine, tuck the tailbone under and arch the back towards the ceiling bringing especial awareness to that space between the shoulderblades. Take five full yogic breaths keeping that navel drawn in to the spine and expanding between the shoulderblades. Allow the head and neck to relax down.
If you have wrist issues (and I know several of you do) you can come down onto the forearms.
Marjariasana helps to improve the flexibility of the spine and shoulders. It gently tones the core muscles and pelvic floor. It’s a great posture to practice during your period as it can really help to relieve cramps. While practicing keep the awareness focussed on the solar plexus. Keep breathing!
Come into child’s pose to finish.

And a quick things i love thursday to finish.
* Cat Stretch, obviously!
* Nadine’s yoga for sore back – really enjoying this girl, thank you
* My chiropractor for fitting me in at lunchtime. I have attachment issues with my old chiropractor in London and feel as though no-one will ever be the same again, but my new chiro is definitely growing on me!
* Himself is coming home from his work trip tonight. It was a dead glamourous trip for him in which he had to unblock the hotel shower with a teaspoon. When he complained the hotel gave him a clean teaspoon. This my friends is the executive high life.
* Agatha Christie Murder Mysteries. I’ve had a couple on the DVR since Christmas waiting for a good time to watch them. Himself hates them so this week has been ideal.
