things i love thursday (23)

I don’t know if I say it enough dear readers, but one thing I love is you lot.  Your comments make my day.  I can’t believe you’re all still reading!  So this week I’m going to give you a little bit of link love.

*  It’s wedding season and Jamie on the Mat has a great yoga sequence for you encompassing all the beauty of weddings and marriage.  Plus doesn’t she look awesome in that pink dress?!

*  As a keen cyclist I love to read about other people who are trying to swap engines for pedals whenever they can and was delighted to read about Heather’s 20 mile round trip earlier this week.  Go Heather! :)

*  As a yoga teacher it is often hard to get out of teacher mode, even when you working on your own practice at home.  Brenda has written a beautiful post about simplifying our practices for the summer vacation.

*  Like me, Nikki is a June birthday girl.  This year instead of presents she is asking that people give a donation to her fun new project Yoga Graffiti for Africa.  She wants pictures of you in a yoga posture in the most unlikely of places along with a small donation for the project and you could win $200 dollars of Lululemon vouchers.  Go check it out, and let me know if you enter!

* Last, but certainly not least is Bindu Wiles’s 21.5.800 project.  Now I don’t have to tell some of you about this because I know you are already all signed up.  The project officially started on Tuesday but it’s never too late to start.  In a nutshell Bindu is suggesting that for the next 21 daysyou  try to write 800 words (anywhere on anything) a day and try to practice yoga for 5 out of every 7 days.  Your yoga can be anything from a local class to just lying in savasana for ten minutes.  You decide.  Check out the link to learn more.

Let me tell you what I have learned so far from the 21.5.800 project.

For longer than I can remember I have always had a nagging feeling that by not pursuing some grand career I have somehow been doing myself down.  And letting others down.  But then I realised that I already practice yoga 5 times a week and I already write at least 800 words most days in my journal, on my blog, on my book.

The lightbulb lit.  I realised that was enough.  More than enough (thanks Sas for the encouragement!), and I am doing what I’m meant to be doing.  And doing it well.

So for the next 21 days I’m going to carry on with that without beating myself up!

Also today I am loving green monsters, pancakes for breakfast, the final season of Big Brother (don’t judge), upward dog, furry kitty tummies, laughter, coloured pens, peanut butter sandwiches, patchouli oil, Himself,  AND…. (drumroll please)….

…typing this on my own laptop.  Yes that’s right, I finally have a charger and a charged battery after all this time.  It is so lovely to have my own pooter back.  Hurrah!!!

I am leaving on a bus to Huntingdon now.  This I do not love.  I have taken travel sickness pills :(

Stay tuned tomorrow for a super duper yoga giveaway that should help some of you who are following the 21.5.800 challenge!
