Lauren’s blanks this week are all about shopping in honour of today being the utterly awful sounding American tradition of Black Friday (which has a completely different meaning in the UK!).
1. Black Friday is a peculiarly American tradition and I’m quite glad about that! I guess it’s like the day after Boxing Day here although about a gajillion times bigger. When I was a kid (and the brontosaurous roamed the earth) the sales didn’t start until January. Hence the name “January Sales”. Now some of them start on Boxing Day. It’s ridiculous, did you not just get what you wanted for Christmas? Can you not think of anything better to do than queue for sales at 4am? Really?
2. Christmas shopping this year will include a Gingerbread Soya Latte from Starbucks. I am very unhappy to see they are not doing the Cherry Chocolate Mocha this year. I can’t tell you about gifts as my brother and parents read this, but we are making most of them. Sorry no, I’m making most of them. It’s an I thing.
3. Holiday shopping makes me utterly irritated. Which is why I hide out in Starbucks, make presents, buy online or buy them in June.
4. This year my Christmas list will include well really I just want some money towards our big trip to Australia in April, although there are a few books and stuff that I would like too.
5. Bargain hunter, or full price shopper? I do love a bargain don’t get me wrong. But I truly hate sales. Everything always looks dirty and scruffy in sales. Besides if I want something it tends to be important (new laptop for example) and I get it when I need it. As for clothes, well if you wait until February everything that was in the sales is in thrift shops for an even cheaper price!
6. The best and worst things about shopping is.. the best is a sense of satisfaction when I’m done. The worst is the other people, pushing and shoving.
7. Online shopper or in-person shopper? Online for everything except clothes. That said I never ever use store changing rooms. I buy and try on at home and take back if I don’t like it.
